Birthday Campaign Message

£15 for 15 Years of Stay Safe East

This year we’re proudly celebrating Stay Safe East’s 15th birthday. Born in 2010 from the vision of disabled community activists, we began as a local project supporting disabled people in Newham, Waltham Forest and Hackney. In 2018, we became a Pan-London service—and the only Disabled People’s Organisation in the UK offering this kind of specialist support.

Our founders, Ruth Bashall and Nicholas Russell, are no longer with us, but their legacy lives on. Today, our mostly-disabled team continues to support disabled people facing abuse, hate crime and discrimination—while influencing policy at local and national levels.

To mark 15 years, we’re asking for a £15 donation—just £1 for every year of vital work.

With your support, we can keep going for as long as we’re needed.

Support Disabled Survivors of Abuse

Stay Safe East is a unique, user-led organisation run by and for disabled people. We provide specialist and holistic advocacy and support to disabled people from diverse communities in London who are survivors of domestic and sexual violence, hate crime, harassment, and other forms of abuse.

Disabled people are three times more likely to experience violence than non-disabled people. Yet crimes involving abuse or hate against disabled individuals remain under-reported and rarely reach court.

Your donation helps us:

  • Provide long-term, accessible advocacy and support
  • Ensure disabled and Deaf people access justice
  • Inform disabled communities of their rights and encourage reporting
  • Equip other organisations to provide inclusive support
  • Drive change in national policies for victims of crime

Every contribution, big or small, makes a real impact. Together, we can create a safer, more inclusive society.
